EXTENSION ONE.
COMPARISON OF WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER AND SONY VEGAS 7.
In my opinion Sony Vegas 7 is better than windows movie maker for various reasons. Okay, so lets start with which features are better than the others.
Sony vegas 7 has a larger amount and a variation of transitions. such as basic transitions like crossfade available in both softwares but there are more advanced transitions in sony vegas called blind, new blue fx, spice master, etc. Sony Vegas also has audio features, you can split it, keep it low or high pitched and do many other effects, its like video and audio editing in one. Audio editing works exactly like the software audacity. A good thing about Windows Movie Maker is that its very easy to navigate through, many might find sony vegas difficult to understand since its lay out is quite complex, the following screenshots..

These two programs are good in their own way, sony vegas is great but what else makes it great are the effects which can be created with it, although sometimes you have to download the programmes additional effects, so it doesnt have it in the programme you have to find it. But as a owner of Sony vegas myself, its worth it. This is also the case with windows movie maker, if you download the correct tools and use the correct techniques many of your videos can be seen as made from sony vegas. Both of these programmes are incredible but I prefer Sony Vegas.
PRICE.
The biggest advantage for windows movie maker is the fact that its free, there is no charge what so ever and sometimes you can even recieve a whole package of promoted windows softwares. Another advantage is that this is certified from the website microsoft itself, so you have a guarantee thats its not a spam, etc. Its real.
Although Sony Vegas 7 is not free, unless illegally downloaded which no one should do. The price starts from $148.00 for Sony Vegas 7. Not too bad, but I must say worth it.
Uploading a video from an Iphone
In order to upload a video from your phone in my case an iPhone, a USB cable is neccessary to be connected to the computer and then onto your phone. Different phones have different types of USB cables, each work for only their specific type of phone. Once the USB cable is connected to the computer, open the phones folder and the location of the video you would like to place it in. Simply drag the video from your phone to your desired folder and your done !

DATA COMPRESSION.
What is data compression?
Data compression is the process of encoding information using fewer bits than the original representation would use. Compression is useful since it helps reduce the consumption of expensive resources, such as hard disk space or transmission bandwidth.
What is a data compression ratio?
Data compression ratio, also known as compression power is a computer science term used to quantify the reducion in data - representation size produced by a data compression algorithm. The data compression ratio used to measure physical compression of substances and is defined in the same way as the ratio between the compressed size and the uncompressed size.
Why is data compression an important technique for the online world?Compression is useful since it helps reduce the consumption of expensive resources, such as hard disk space or transmission bandwidth. Another reason for it being an important technique to the online world because if compressed data is downloaded it would be faster because there are fewer bits.
What is the difference betwwen Lossy and Lossless data compression? Lossy compression is a data encoding method which compresses data by losing some. The method aims to minimise the amount of data that needs to be held and/or transmitted by a computer, substantial amount of fata can be discarded before the result is sufficiently degraded to be noticed by the user. Lossy compression is mainly used to compress multimedia data (audio, video, still images).
Why is human psychology and perception an important factor in methods of Lossy compression?Human pyschology and perception is an important factor in methods of lossy compression since only a certain amount of data can be discarded before it is noticed by the human eye.
Which method offers the greatest compression ratio?Lossy data compression offers the greatest compression ratio, it also is the most recommended and popular.

HD SCRIPT, NATASHA.
Natasha - Salesperson at Harvey Norman, describing a HD (high definition) TV.
Customer - Customer
Customer - Hi, I was just needed some help in buying a new television, preferably the latest one, HD television, am I right?
Natasha - HD television, thats right. Okay here is one,

Customer - Hi, I was just needed some help in buying a new television, preferably the latest one, HD television, am I right?
Natasha - HD television, thats right. Okay here is one,
Natasha - This is a HD ready television, and as you can see the brand is Sony. In my opinion, I think Sony is one of the best brands for HD television. Okay so basically High Definition television has the highest resolution upon many normal televisions systems, so for example I am guessing you have a standard definition system at the moment?
Customer - Yes, okay so HD television is the best television system out of all of the systems?
Natasha - Yes, you'll be amazed by how clear the resolution of this television is. This television is 10 times better and clearer. HDTV has one to two million pixels per frame.Customer - What are pixels? How do the amount of them effect the television quality?
Natasha - Well, pixels are basically how resolution is measured. The number of pixels ae digital images made up of thousands of small squares. The smaller the pixels are, the higher the resolution will be and also the amount of pixels.
Customer - Wow, so that means this television is amazingly clear.
Natasha - Its quite unbelievable, and the aspect ration of the television meaning the width and height is 16.9 and that is classified as widescreen. So you have a widescreen television with stunning quality.
Customer - This sounds too good to be true, are we allowed to see the quality, can you turn it on?
Natasha - Of course, here. Before you choose your television though, just letting you know that there are different brands with HD television, for example samsung, but its up to you, which brand suits you and their prices. This television is 1080p meaning it has 2 005 056 pixels.
Customer - WOW. The definition, talk about clear!
Natasha - So yes, basically this is HDTV!
Customer - Thank you so much, I'm going to buy one as soon as possible !
Natasha - No worries, I'm glad you liked it. :)

INTRODUCTION TO VIDEO.
What are some advantages of digital video?
The frame rate is the number of frames or images that are displayed per second. Frame rates are used in synchronizing audio and pictures. It has been said that the frame rates are standardized by the society of motion picture and television editors (SMPTE), this is only in the case of motion pictures and television.
Are all the videos/movies the same frame rate, explain your answer.
Movies and videos arent particularly the same frame rate, although it is possible for certain videos to be the same. It all depends on the video, for example the frame rate is high when there is a lot of movement in the video, basically the more movement in the video, the higher the frame rate. If a low frame rate would be featured on a video with alot of movement, most likely the quality would be low and it would be slow as well as full of pixels. All movies/videos dont have the same rate, overall it depends on the video and its amount of movement.
What is meant by resolution, how is it measured?
Resolution is basically the number of pixels which are digital images made up of thousands of small squares, in the screen area. The higher the resolution, the smaller the pixels. Nowadays, pixels are so small that the human eye cant distinguish it. Resolution is measured by the count of a single vertical line of pixels (ie. 1080).
- Footage can be updated without any difficulties.
- Can be easily incorporated into computer presentations
- Can be integrated into many databases for useful applications.

What is the colour system called RGB?
RGB stands for Red, Green and Blue. Since you add red, green and blue, it creates white light and this is called RGB colours. A number between 1-255 designates the amount of each RGB colour. For example, 255 BLUE. RGB is the seen as the most common colour mode used in the case of graphics.

Explain the video standards PAL, NTSC and SECAM, what are the main differences between them?
PAL - Phase Alternating Line.
NTSC - National Television System Committee.
SECAM - Sequential Colour And Memory.
Each one is incompatible with the other.
PAL is an analog colour television encoding system used in broadcast television systems. The name describes the way that the phase of part of the colour information on the video signal is reversed with each line.
NTSC is the analog television system that is used mostly in North America, South America, some pacific nations and territories, and many more. NTSC allowed colour broadcasting to be compatible with the existing stock of black and white receivers.
SECAM is an analog colour television system first used in France. SECAM is a standard which permits existing monochrome television receivers predating its introduction to continue to operate as monochrome television
Which standard do we use in Australia?

What is an IEEE 1394 port?
IEEE 1394 is a very fast external bus standard. This port is also known as FireWire, originated from the company Apple, allowing the connection of peripherals to a computer. Since IEEE 1394 supports high bandwidth, it allows you to get feed from a high resolution video camera onto a camera without any difficulties. IEEE 1394 works through a term called peer-to-peer networking, which means that devices can connect and communicate to one another without the neccesity of a computer.
Why do digital video cameras use video compression?
Video compression is used with digital video cameras since it helps reduce the bit rate. Digital video is a type of video recording system that works by using a digital rather than an analog video signal. Digital video comprises a series of orthogonal bitmap digital images displayed in rapid succession at a constant rate. In the context of video these images are called frames. We measure the rate at which frames are displayed in FPS (frames per second). Pixels have one property which is their colour. The colour of a pixel is repreented by a fixed number of bits. The more bits the more subtle variations of colour can be reproduced. This is called the colour depth of the video.
Describe what a codec is.A codec is a device or computer program capable of encoding or decoding a digital data stream or signal. The word codex is a portmanteau of compressor-decompressor or, more commonly coder-decoder. The different video and audio formats which have different compression ratios, the codecs basically need to ensure these files are able to playback on the computer.
What is meant by the "generation loss", where does it happen?
Generation loss refers to the loss of quality and potential increase of file size between subsequent copies of data. Anything that reduces that quality on making a copy of the copy, can be considered a form of generation loss. Generation loss mostly occurs in digital systems.
